Close to town (Ixtapa / Zihuatanejo)
Playa Madera
Half a mile from The Tides Zihuatanejo
Within Zihuatanejo Bay, the break at this beach can put up some good surf in Mexico during the summer season.

Playa Las Gatas
10 miles from The Tides Zihuatanejo by boat from downtown
When the swell is just right, the waves off the Las Gatas rocky point can be a perfect ride.

Playa Escolleras
13 miles from The Tides Zihuatanejo
Located on Ixtapa's main beach and next to Playa El Palmar, adjacent to the rock jetty.

South of town (Ixtapa / Zihuatanejo)

Playa Loma Bonita
18 miles from The Tides Zihuatanejo
Small, beautiful beach south of Zihuatanejo near Playa Juluchuca, ideal for surfing in Mexico.

Playa La Barrita
18 miles from The Tides Zihuatanejo
Beach break near Petatlan to the south of Zihuatanejo.

North of town (Ixtapa / Zihuatanejo)
Playa Linda
21 miles from The Tides Zihuatanejo
A beach break that has a couple of consistent peaks for regular and goofy footers. Here, the surf in Mexico is powerful. The last beach in Ixtapa, Playa Linda's surfing zone is located a few hundred meters down the beach from the pier that serves as the embarkation point to Isla Ixtapa.

Playa La Saladita
24 miles from The Tides Zihuatanejo
La Saladita is located 45 minutes from Zihuatanejo and is the best longboard wave around. The bottom is made up of round rocks at the point with a sandy bottom towards the north side of the beach. It's a long paddle to the outer sand bar, but the whitewater is not strong and the slow rolling waves of the La Saladita surf in Mexico are very forgiving.

Playa Troncones
31 miles from The Tides Zihuatanejo
Troncones is a 3+ mile long beach facing the open Pacific Ocean, is studded with rock outcroppings and a few small rivers that flow during the rainy season. One of the prime Troncones surfing spots is Manzanillo Bay, towards the northern end of the community.

Playa Manzanillo
32 miles from The Tides Zihuatanejo
A beautiful beach for surfing in Mexico between Troncones and Majagua, about a 30 minute drive north of Zihuatanejo and Ixtapa. This coarse sand beach is bound by rocky points to the north and south.
